FAQ Grand Hôtel des Bains

Access is not recommended to people with a history of cardiovascular disease or to pregnant women without prior medical advice. The baths are only open to children aged 4 and over (proof of age required). Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult (18 years or older).

Children are admitted from the age of 4 (proof required) and must be accompanied by an adult to access the thermal baths.

We restrict access to young children because many customers come to the Spa to relax, which is not necessarily compatible with the presence of young children. What’s more, the depth of the pools and the infrastructure do not allow us to cater for them in optimum safety conditions.

Rates at the Grand Hôtel des Bains**** vary according to the room category chosen, the season and current special offers. Check-in is possible from 3pm and check-out before 12pm. All our rooms and suites are non-smoking.

You can stay at the Grand Hôtel des Bains or in our medical studios, located right next to the Medical Centre.

Lavey Médical treats chronic pain, rheumatic conditions, back pathologies, burns, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and post-operative conditions.

FAQ Thermal Baths

Yes, but it is possible that in the event of a heavy storm or tempest the outdoor pools may be temporarily closed to ensure the safety of our customers.

The depth of the large outdoor pool is 1m30, while the semi-Olympic pool and indoor pool are gradually being increased from 1m10 to 1m60.

We don’t hire out bathing equipment, but you’ll find swimwear, towels and other items for sale in our shop.

Swimming caps are not compulsory, but long hair must be tied back.

We accept swimming shorts if they are above the knees.

However, as a general rule, all loose-fitting and long clothing is forbidden for reasons of hygiene and safety.

Les Bains de Lavey are located in the Chablais region of western Switzerland, close to Martigny and Monthey, within easy reach of Lausanne and Geneva by motorway or public transport (train and bus).

The pools, fed by Lavey’s natural thermal water, are kept at between 33°C and 36°C all year round, perfect for relaxing. Temperatures may vary slightly depending on weather conditions, such as wind or heavy rain.

Thermal baths relieve joint pain, improve circulation, reduce stress and promote muscle relaxation thanks to the mineral-rich thermal water.

Reservations are not compulsory for access to the Baths. However, it is strongly recommended during busy periods such as weekends, public holidays and special events. Without a reservation, and if maximum capacity is reached, you may have to wait a little before we can welcome you.

FAQs on bars

Yes, cash and credit cards are accepted in our bars. You can also pay with a Bains de Lavey gift voucher.

Yes, the Bar Arc-en-Ciel offers a menu of salads, poké bowls, homemade burgers and sandwiches, as well as a wide range of fresh fruit juices and cocktails for a quick and tasty break after the Thermalbaths.

The Bar La Sirène offers a selection of wines, classic cocktails and house creations, as well as hot drinks and aperitifs to prolong your moment of relaxation.

Yes, the Bar Arc-en-Ciel is located by the pools and can be accessed directly from the baths. It offers drinks and a small menu of light snacks.

Bar Arc-en-Ciel :

Open 7 days a week, regular hours are as follows:

  • Sunday to Thursday: 9am – 7pm
  • Friday and Saturday: 9am – 8pm

The Bar La Sirène is open every day from 11am to 11pm, and is the ideal place to extend your moment of relaxation by sipping one of our signature cocktails.

Internal rules

9.1 Our car parks are reserved exclusively for our customers for the duration of their stay or visit to the establishment.

8.1 For prevention and surveillance purposes (protection against unauthorised access, personal safety and protection of property), our establishment has video surveillance systems. The presence of these systems is indicated by signs to this effect.

8.2 The recordings are kept securely for a short period of time (in connection with various requests during investigations, following the lodging of a complaint) and erased regularly.

8.3 In the event of an offence or complaint, the recordings may be consulted by the establishment’s management and/or made available to the authorities.

8.4 No consultation by third parties will be permitted. Similarly, no consultation will be authorised without a valid reason. Only access to recordings which respects the privacy of other users will be permitted, provided that the measures to be taken to grant such access are proportionate.

7.1 Les Bains de Lavey accepts no responsibility for theft within the establishment.

7.2 It is expressly recommended that no valuables are left unattended in the changing rooms.

7.3 Safety deposit boxes are available to customers at the shower exits.

7.4 As all changing room lockers are fitted with secure, individualised locks, the Management declines all responsibility in the event of loss or disappearance of items stored in the lockers.

7.5 Lost or found items must be handed in/claimed immediately at the spa reception desk. The establishment reserves the right to dispose of any unclaimed items within 30 days of their loss and to donate them to a charitable institution.

7.6 Anyone caught stealing will be reported to the police.

7.7 Stolen or lost season tickets will not be replaced.

6.1 Les Bains de Lavey declines all responsibility in the event of accidents.

5.1 Users are responsible for their own actions and for those under their supervision (minors or persons who must be accompanied).

5.2 Any damage caused to the facilities and equipment will be charged to the user responsible.

5.3 A charge of CHF 50 will be made for the loss of wristbands used to access lockers or baths.

4.1 Order and decency must be observed at all times by users of the establishment.

4.2 It is forbidden to undress or dress outside the cabins, or to deposit clothing anywhere other than in the changing rooms (except in the naturist area of the Nordic pavilion).

4.3 It is compulsory to shower, disinfect feet and use the foot baths before entering the pool area.

4.4 For reasons of hygiene, a towel, hammam sheet or towel must be worn to access the saunas, even by naturists.

4.5 Shoes, flip-flops or bathing sandals are not permitted outside the changing rooms (with the exceptions specified in point 2.1).

4.6 It is forbidden to run, to jump into the water from the edge of the pools, to splash or to act in a way that may disturb other bathers.

4.7 Verbal exchanges must take place without raising one’s voice. Silence must be respected, particularly in the sauna/hammam areas, rest rooms and during underwater music sessions in the indoor pool.

4.8 Intimate contact and immoral behaviour are prohibited (voyeurism, physical or verbal violence, exhibitionism or any other sexual behaviour).

4.9 The use of flippers, diving masks, breathing apparatus and all play accessories (balls, inflatable objects, etc.) is not permitted.
Swimming goggles and certain water games for children may be tolerated insofar as they do not harm the well-being of our customers and only with the prior agreement of the lifeguards.

4.10 Buoys, air mattresses, boards and other flotation devices are prohibited, subject to the following. Muffs, armbands and flotation waistcoats or belts are permitted.

4.11 It is strongly recommended that you do not snorkel unless accompanied by a buddy.

4.12 It is forbidden to have a picnic or to bring drinks or food onto the premises. The consumption of chewing gum is prohibited.

4.13 It is forbidden to take photographs or make films without prior authorisation from the Management.

4.14 Portable radios and televisions, as well as any sound-reproducing equipment, are prohibited.

4.15 Reservation of deckchairs is not permitted. Towels and bath sheets left on unoccupied deckchairs will be removed.

4.16 Smoking and vaping are prohibited on the Bains de Lavey site, except in areas specifically designated for this purpose. Only cigarettes and electronic cigarettes are permitted. Cigars, cigarillos, pipes, cannabidiol (CBD) cigarettes and other tobacco products are not permitted.

3.1 Only people with a valid admission ticket (ticket, season ticket in the form of an access bracelet) may access the facilities.

3.2 Wristbands must be worn in all our facilities.

3.3 Our season tickets are personal and cannot be used by a third party. For 5, 10 or 20 admission tickets, we authorise a maximum of one accompanying person per visit if the price category is the same (you must go to reception to obtain the 2nd wristband).

3.4 It is strictly forbidden to go over or under the turnstiles or to have two people go through at the same time. In the event of non-compliance, an entry ticket may be charged and a complaint lodged with the competent
authorities.

3.5 Proof of entitlement is required to obtain a discount.

3.6 Anyone with a history of cardiovascular disease or any other medical condition should consult their doctor before using any of the facilities. By acquiring or using an admission ticket to access the establishment’s facilities, users confirm that they are in good health and are not contravening any medical prescription prohibiting them from accessing such an establishment.

3.7 People with contagious skin diseases are not permitted to use the facilities.

3.8 It is forbidden to swim with bandages or open wounds.

3.9 Pregnant women may use our facilities with the prior agreement of their doctor as to the appropriate duration of the swim.

3.10 People with reduced mobility may use our facilities; we have adapted access and equipment.

3.11 Disabled persons must show proof of disability (AI or CMI card, etc.). Admission for the accompanying person will only be offered by the Bains de Lavey S.A. on presentation of a medical certificate attesting to the need to be accompanied.

3.12 Any person under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or behaving inappropriately, may be refused access or excluded from the establishment.

3.13 Children aged 4 and over are accepted (proof of age may be requested).

3.14 Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a person over the age of 18 and remain under that person’s responsibility.

3.15 Children are not permitted in the pavilions, rest areas, saunas, Turkish baths and steam rooms.

3.16 Access to the facilities is forbidden outside opening hours and during maintenance periods.

3.18 Pets are not permitted in the spa (only permitted in the hotel/except in the restaurants/bars).

3.19 Firearms, daggers and other types of knives, certain self-defence sprays and electroshock devices are strictly forbidden on the premises.

2.1 For reasons of hygiene and safety, and in order to make the most of the beneficial effects of thermal water, the following rules of dress must be observed inside the Spa:

  • It is compulsory to wear a swimming costume (subject to and within the limits of the naturist area of the Norwegian pavilion).

  • Only swimming trunks or T-shirts are permitted and must reach no higher than the knees, with sleeves no higher than the elbow.
  • G-strings and monokinis are not permitted.
  • Caps and other accessories are forbidden in the pools and facilities of the establishment (pavilions, rest areas, Turkish baths and hammams) except with the agreement of the lifeguards for protection purposes.
  • Bathing caps should be worn and hair tied back.
  • Beyond the changing rooms, you must go barefoot (with the exception of sandals (disposable) sold in our shop or with the agreement of the lifeguards and prior disinfection of the soles by the cleaning service).

1.1 Entering the establishment implies the obligation to comply with these rules and with the instructions and observations of the establishment’s staff and all other provisions contributing to maintaining the safety of the site.

1.2 Any contravention of the provisions of these rules or any refusal to follow the instructions of the staff may result in the temporary or permanent exclusion of the offender. Failure to comply with an exclusion decision may result in legal proceedings.

1.3 The school declines all responsibility in the event of non-compliance with the provisions of these rules or the instructions of school staff.

1.4 In the event of behaviour that could potentially come under criminal law (theft, damage to property, hostel skulduggery, exhibitionism, violence, insults, etc.), the establishment reserves the right to refer the matter to the competent authorities or to take any other measure it deems appropriate.

To ensure the comfort and hygiene of all visitors, pets are not allowed in the Spa, wellness areas, restaurants or hotel.

Yes, Les Bains de Lavey gift vouchers can be used in our restaurants. Please present them before your order for validation.

  • La Table des Bains: Sophisticated cuisine with generous buffets, grilled meat and fish, desserts and a variety of cheeses.
  • Le Chalet des Bains: Traditional Swiss and mountain cuisine, featuring fondues, raclettes, grills and wood-fired pizzas made with local produce.

This depends on the option you choose: daily specials or all-you-can-eat buffets. La Table des Bains offers a buffet of cold starters, grilled meats and fish à la plancha, as well as a wide choice of desserts and cheeses. Orders for the buffet are taken until closing time.

Our usual opening times for La Table des Bains are :

  • Sunday to Thursday: lunch service from 12:00 to 14:30* and dinner service from 19:00 to 21:00*.
  • Friday and Saturday: lunch service from 12:00 to 14:30* and evening service from 19:00 to 22:00* – 1st service at 19:00 and 2nd service at 21:00.

Cures over several sessions are recommended for visible results from the 3rdᵉ session.

Yes, you can book a massage or treatment without staying at the hotel. The Wellness Centre at the Bains de Lavey welcomes all visitors by appointment. Enjoy a moment of relaxation and extend your experience with access to the thermal baths.

Yes, Les Bains de Lavey offer several duo massages, perfect for sharing a moment of well-being together. You can choose from Lomi Lomi or precious oil massages. Some wellness days and breaks also include duo treatments for a complete experience.
